PRESS RELEASE: ETHAN LOW EARNS TWO MORE TOP 20 FINISHES IN SCCA MAJORS AT ROAD ATLANTA

One of Three to Post Top 20 Finishes in All Six Series RacesAtlanta, GA 3/24/14 – Sometimes you just have your work cut out for you. That is how Ethan Low felt after battling through three rough qualifying sessions that left him starting mid pack for both races at Rounds 5 and 6 of the Eastern Region of the SCCA Majors held at Road Atlanta just outside Atlanta, GA. Hoping to build on his 11th place overall standing through four rounds, Low had to work his way through a talent field to keep his string of four top 20 SCCA Majors finishes alive.

“This wasn’t how I was hoping the start of our week would go” said Low, “so starting 33rd for both races presented a great challenge for me to see if I could work my way up through the field. Fortunately we got most of our problems solved before the first race and I was able to work my way through some of the field both races and get two more top 20 finishes."

Low was able to move from a 33rd starting position up to 17th in the first race of the weekend and had caught the next two cars when the checkered flag came out in race one. In race two he was again able to move from 33rd up to 16th posting his fastest lap times of the weekend in the second and final race. The 17 year old Low’s race performance consistency is noteworthy. He is one of only three drivers in the eastern region through six races to post a top 20 in all six races.

“I didn’t know that about only three guys finishing in the top 20 in all the races so far.” Low commented. “I am working hard at my race craft and the talented fields here at the SCCA Majors make every position a challenging and well earned position. Someone told me at the beginning of the season that if I could run top 20 in this series I should consider it a success but honestly, I am wanting to be in that top ten group every race weekend instead of top 20, but I know there is always more work to be done to earn the opportunity to be putting my car up with that front group. I really appreciated the time Andrew Carbonell (fresh off a Continental Tire win with Randy Probst at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring race weekend) and (series leader) Alex Bolanos both took with me off track to go over my race video and help me find developmental opportunities in my driving. It is a testament to the spirit of SCCA racing that they would help a young guy like me out when on track, we are all competing for the same victory."

Low was also quick to thank his racing partners for making this weekend possible. “I am so grateful for the support of D & T Productions, K&M Logistics, Bell Racing USA and Mark Gibbons, John Watson and the rest of the Old Dogs Racing team. John gave up his opportunity to race this weekend so that I could race and I just can’t say enough good things about my having the opportunity to race with these guys. Jeff our lead mechanic hasn’t been home in a couple of weeks now staying out on the road so Old Dogs Racing can do their thing on the weekends. It is a big sacrifice on his part and he and Mark put their heads together along with Mike Rossini (Rossini Racing Products) to get my car working right for the two races. I also want to say thanks to Heath Patterson for retweeting all my tweets out to the MazdaMovement social community this weekend. It is neat to be able to share my passion for racing Mazdas with all those proud owners of Mazda product.”

Next on Low’s racing schedule is a date with Rounds 7 and 8 of the SCCA Majors at Virginia International Raceway April 18-20 followed by rounds three and four of the Mazda MX-5 Cup Pro Series at Mazda Raceway in Monterey, California on May 1-3.Ethan Low continues to look for business partners who want to use his image as a young, professional race car driver to help them promote their products and brands in the world of professional auto racing.
