I am really blessed to be paired up with John Dean, owner of Sick Sideways, as his great depth of knowledge and experience in the MX-5 Cup cars will be so valuable in teaching me the right way to grow and develop as a professional racer. I cannot wait to get started with teammates John and Nathaniel Sparks and see what we can accomplish together.”Low continued, “I want to thank my sponsors, Bell Racing USA, K & M Logistics, D&T Productions and all of my awesome family for standing behind me and giving me the opportunity to take this next big step in my racing career. I will do my best to represent all of them well and make them proud.”Low, a 17 year old high school junior from Clearwater, Florida, comes to the Mazda MX-5 Cup series with an impressive slate of racing accomplishments already under his belt. Low began his racing career in karts at age 11 and rose to win a Rotax grand national championship in just his second year of karting. In 2012, Low began his transition into the world of auto racing with an invite to participate in the Skip Barber Shootout where he was one of 22 young drivers internationally and the second youngest that year to take part in the educational on track and off track racing event. Low debuted in the SCCA auto racing ranks in 2013 competing in Spec Miatas, Spec Racer Fords and BMW E-30 Series cars earning five wins at three different tracks (Charlotte Motor Speedway, Sebring International Raceway and Miami Homestead Speedway) in two different cars (Spec Miata and Spec Racer Ford), earned fourteen podiums and had 0 “did not finishes” (DNFs) in over 30 starts in 2013. The MX-5 Cup provides drivers with an opportunity to compete in similarly prepared Mazda MX-5 cars with limited modifications. It is the entry level of production car-based competition in SCCA Pro Racing. The 2014 season will debut at Sebring International Raceway on March 12-15 and consist of six double race weekends. In addition to Sebring, races will be run at Mazda Raceway LaGuna Seca in California, the Houston Grand Prix in Houston, Texas, at Candian Tire Motorsports Park outside of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin and the Petite Lemans at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia. The MX-5 Cup will serve as a support race to the Tudor United Sports Car series in five of the six race weekends with the Houston Grand Prix race serving as a support race to the Indy Car series. MX-5 Cup races are typically 45 minute sprint races. Low continues to look for the right financial partners to join him in his racing career.
